Camp Fimfo Waco

Had such a great time at Camp Fimfo! We went with 6 other families. It was so nice to have our own cabin but still all be right next to each other. The kids were so entertained with all the activities. The cabin was nice and clean. Definitely rent a golf cart- makes it easy to get around and of course kids loved that too! Can’t speak much to the service bc we were there over a holiday and they were closed most of the time, but the few interactions we had were great. We will be back for sure!

The Mammoth cabin we booked was technically able to sleep 10 people, but once the pull-out bed was set up, there was almost no room left in the cabin, and it made the kitchen very difficult to use. There was also only one bathroom. The bunk beds felt like they could fall apart at any moment, which made a lot of noise and made it hard for everyone in that room to sleep. The bunk room also got really hot while the rest of the cabin was cold. The door to the bunk room would not close because it was too big for the door frame. We also had to make our own beds, as they just had sheets and pillows laying on top of the mattresses. There was no extra bedding for the pull-out bed, and no one answered our calls when we tried to inform management of the issues. In the kitchen, we had to get on a chair and plug in the microwave above the vent hood because it had not been installed yet. We also had to go get our own utensils because they had spoons but not enough forks for 10 people. The location is fine, and there are a few things to do when the pool is not open, but it would be difficult to find enough to do to stay more than one night. Everything seems to be basic-grade construction and thrown up quickly. It felt like something between an Airbnb and camping and was not as cozy or restful as we had hoped. I am sure they may improve in the future, but until then we will look at other options.

I have stayed at a few campgrounds and Camp Fimfo Waco has been the BEST by far. We stayed in a cabin and it was such great quality. The appliances worked great, the shower was fantastic and the beds were so comfortable. We had a small issues with the TV in the living room but we’re quickly helped. The service was phenomenal. Their general store has just about anything you could need, the restaurant was a little pricey but overall very good, and the activities available were so fun for the kids. We will definitely be back!

Overall, it's a fun place to take your kids. Facility (not room) was clean and the kids had fun with some of the activities. I wish they would just heat up the kids pool. When I asked one of the staff members at the pool, he said they sometimes turn the heater on and "it's up to my manager to decide" - it was quite a chilly day and nearly all kids went to the adult heated pool instead and couldn't enjoy in the kids pool. Now, onto the reason why I'm giving 3 stars - ROOMS! We stayed at one of the cabins and unfortunately, my daughter got infected with LICE during our stay. I am quite certain it was from the cabin for a number of reasons: Our current home is a new build and extremely clean. We have maid service come to our home every 2-3 weeks. Once checking out of the cabins, we went straight home and did not visit any other location. My daughter started scratching her head the day after we returned. Our doctor also hypothesized the cabin trip is where my daughter got LICE. There are other challenges with the cabin, but this is the main reason for the rating. I highly doubt my wife and I will be confident or comfortable going back mainly due to the fear of LICE.

Everything about our stay was perfect!!!!! We have stayed at the Waco location and have also visited the hill country one to ride the alpine coaster. Both wonderful experiences- my kids, husband and I enjoyed so so much! We will be back to both - many times in the future. So excited to have found and explore this place. Kind staff, the coolest layout with fun for everyone. Thanks for having us! FUN IS MORE FUN OUTSIDE!!!!

Pools are amazing, food is great and affordable. The pools could both use significantly more umbrellas though, I think there’s maybe one to every 20 chairs. Bartender was very hospitable, remembered us after the first day and went above and beyond. The rest of the staff was hit or miss on consistency, lots of apathetic high school age. Trash pickup daily was awesome, as were all the daily activities. The facilities are beautiful, the activities are all great. New campground so we unfortunately chose a spot with no shade and new trees, if you’re in an RV go to the far back of the property by the showers And laundry for the shaded spots. My parents did a cabin. They were very nice but the price with only full size beds was less than ideal. Overall would come again, especially with young kids
